All of the writing below is from my Writer's Craft class during Semester 2 (January 2002 to June 2002). Not all of my assignments from class are here.
Writing Block A#3 - Picture Poem
The Road Through Life
As I walk down this road,
There are many trials.
As the road grows,
There's not a person for miles.
As I go on, the road gets rough,
And I have nowhere to turn.
It's so very tough.
My feet are starting to burn.
I take the time to stop and smell the air,
Mother Nature made it for us with care.
This wonderful air that we share.
The air that Mother Nature made with care.
The sky so bright,
The road up ahead could bend.
The grass so golden light,
I’m on a road that never ends.
What a lovely scene!
The mountains are covered with snowy white,
How could anyone be so mean?
Why doesn't anything go right?
The yellow lines,
Stretch far ahead.
I wonder what crosses people's minds.
Do they wonder what it's like to be dead?
When I look back,
I see what life has brought me.
It looks so black.
Do you agree?
The road is starting to end,
My heart is starting to tear,
I can see the bend,
But I'm already there.

Writing Block B#3 - Domino Poetry
The Noisy Dog Named Snoopy
because
because
someone was going door-to-door
because
they were selling chocolate bars
because
it was for their school fund-raiser
because
the school needed money for new playground equipment
because
the old equipment was unsafe
because
the playground was vandalized
because
because
they do not respect other people's property and things.
So please be careful and respect other people's property and things…
Writing Block C#3 - A Punny Story
THE JOB THAT JUST WAS NOT RIGHT
Finding a job that is just right and something that you will enjoy doing is hard to find. Here's a tale about a job hunting experience that a girl named Morgan had. First she made a list of all possible job opportunities, that she'd like to try. Here's how her job hunting went.
The first job Morgan tried was a doctor but she didn't have the patients to be one. The second job she had was being a historian but she found out that she couldn't get past the present. Then Morgan tried to be a lawyer but she just couldn't argue with others especially liars. After a lawyer didn't work out Morgan tried to be a baseball player but she just couldn't hit the base. Next she moved on to be a hairdresser but she didn't make the cut. Then Morgan found an ad for a pre-school teacher. After a couple of days she found out that she's still a child at heart. Then Morgan wanted to be a fisher but she couldn't net it. Next she tried to be a singer but she couldn't reach the notes. Morgan would have loved to be an actress but she didn’t make the act.
Morgan decided to take a day or two off and rest from the experiences she already had. When she returned to her job hunting she tried to work at a tomato factory but she got canned. Next, she wanted to be a tailor but Morgan was told that she wasn't suited for it. So, Morgan moved on to be a mechanic but she just couldn't fix it. After that she moved on to a computer programmer but she didn't know how to turn on the computer. The next job was a writer but she couldn't write anything. Next Morgan tried being an accountant but her net didn't equal her gross. After that she was an electrician, but she found out the work was shocking. Morgan tried to be a high school teacher but she didn't make the grade.
Morgan tried to be a roofer but it went in the gutter. When she tried to be a baker she got toasted. She tried to be an elevator repair person but got shafted. Her attempt at being a plumber went down the pipes. When she tried to become a photographer her boss told her she had a negative attitude so she said let me go to the dark room and see if anything develops. Finally she nailed down the ideal job when she became a carpenter.
Writing Block D#2 - "Point of View: A Confrontation With The Uglies"
Picture from: http://wvlightning.com/gallery.html
i) This picture is pathetically ugly because it's something that is deadly. It causes a lot of damage when it gets really bad outside during a thunderstorm. It causes trees to lose its branches and sometimes when the branches fall off, they hit houses, power lines, cars and more. You can't watch it for long because it hurts the eyes. It can also cause death and blindness if a person gets hit by lightning.
ii) This picture is so awesomely beautiful because when it happens it lights up the whole sky with colour. It's nice to watch all the different patterns that it makes. Whether it is one bolt of lightning or whether it lights up the whole sky at once, it totally transforms the sky. It is a part of nature that is beautiful.
Writing Block F#3 - "If Walls Could Talk....: A Inanimate’s Point of View."
b) a juicy worm that got up very early to see the sunrise
This morning I decided to wake up very early to see the sunrise. I was very tired since I did not sleep well because this would be my first sunrise that I have ever seen and I was excited. When I finally got up above the wet ground from the rain that had fallen the day before, it was still dark out, but it would not last long. The ground was slippery as I made my way to the perfect spot to watch the sunrise. I had to be careful of the rain puddles, as I did not want to get stuck in the water.
When I reached the perfect spot I noticed that I was not alone. There were tons of other juicy worms at the spot. From the spot I could smell the rain and feel the slippery wet ground. I could see the birds up in the sky looking for juicy worms like me. I hid so that the birds would not see me from the sky but I could still see the sunrise.
Oh let me tell you about the perfect sunrise that I witnessed! The sky was beautiful as the dark clouds moved out and the sun was rising from the horizon. The colours were so pretty and colourful. When the clouds were finally out of the way the sun was brightly shining. As everyone was about to leave birds came flying towards us. I ducked and I was lucky that the birds did not get me but they got some of my friends and their family members. I was lucky there too because none of my family members were up yet. They liked to sleep in.
I made my way back to my home. Another day safe from the birds till tomorrow when I go and see my second sunrise.
